An extremely rare edition of a 17th-century work written by Georg Stengel, German Jesuit, philosopher, and theologian, member of The Society of Jesus. Stengel believed that all the punishments of God point to the need for implacable persecution of witches on the Franconian model. Stengel wrote 70 Latin and German works, including poems, memoirs, and polemical writings. Among the polemical literature include his treatises against his conversation with Lutheran religious Brothers Jacob Reihing. This is the only copy currently available for sale worldwide

Binding: Original vellum binding with blind stamped title and sticker on the spine cover. The covers gilt, gilt is slightly faded due to aging. Minor wax stains and scratches, signs of wear along the edges, previous owner’s inscription on the endpaper.
Condition: Ink inscription on the flyleaf, gilded text block edges, few minor spots in the text, last leaf slightly damaged, clean copy otherwise.
