Edition of the Holy Bible or Biblia Sacra (containing Old and New Testament) in Latin and German language from the late 18th century. Two volumes edition. Edited by Thomas Aquinas Erhard, a German theologian of the order of the Benedictines, a Catholic religious order of independent monastic communities that observe the Rule of Saint Benedict. Each community within the order maintains its autonomy, while the order itself represents their mutual interests
The terms “Order of Saint Benedict” and “Benedictine Order” are, however, also used to refer to all Benedictine communities collectively, sometimes giving the incorrect impression that there exists a general or motherhouse with jurisdiction over them.
