Title: Pl. XLVII Facing Crown; pl. LIII Facing Diamond Cutting

Description: Plates XLVII and LIII from the English translation of Diderot’s Encyclopedia from the late 18th century. The prints depict a diamond-cutting workshop with instruments and different types of crowns with measurements. This encyclopedia was a massive reference work for the arts and sciences, as well as a means to propagate the ideas of the French Enlightenment.

Size: 35 x 21 cm
