Original antique Veduta of Ulcinj and Oldenburgh
A leaf from the “Universus terrarum orbis scriptorum calamo delineatus, hoc est auctorum fere omnium, qui de Europae, Asiae, Africae, & Americae regnis” showing the city of Ulcinj (Montenegro) and Oldenburg (Germany). This monumental work was made by Raffaele Savonarola (1646-1730) under the pseudonym of Alfonso Lasor a Varea. Most of the plates used for the illustration of this work are the same ones used in other 16th century titles such as L’Isole piu famose del mondo by Porcacchi (1572) and Geografia di Magini (1596). Savonarola did some minor corrections on some of the plates, but they mostly remain the same as the ones from the 16th century.
