View from the inland towards the ocean of the British fortress/tradepost at Cape Corse in what nowadays is the town of Capecoast in Ghana. The fortress in this place was previously possessed by the Danes and the Swedes (it was named Carolusburg) and then the Dutch, until the British took over. It was an important hub in the cross Atlantic slave trade, although there also was trade in gold, ivory, cotton etc.

Published in Prevost’s Histoire generale des voyages around 1750 in Paris.
