This steel engraving originates from a Dutch edition of ‘Meyer’s Universum’, published and printed by the ‘Bibliographical Institute’ in Hildburghausen, Germany in 1837. View of Arimathea in Israel, “city of Judea” It was reportedly the hometown of Joseph of Arimathea, who appears in all four Gospel accounts of the Passion for having donated his new tomb outside Jerusalem to receive the body of Jesus.
