Kate Marsden (1859-1931) was set up after only eight months of training as a missionary sister in the Russo-Turkish War. At her own request she made across Russia on the way to build a leper colony in a remote part of Siberia. Description of the travel is almost unbearable were it not for the black humor with which she seasons her report. K. Marsden was member of many fraternity organizations such as Royal Geographic Society, Royal British Nurses Association and the Imperial Russian Red Cross Society.
