Epistle to Marshal Keit – Poems by Frederick the Great
A collection of odes and philosophical poems rhymed in the original French by Frederick the Great, under the pen name Philosopher of Sans-Souci. The poems are consecrated to marshal James Francis Edward Keith, who died during the Seven Years’ War and discuss a wide range of philosophical topics, such as morality, politics, and mortality. Voltaire, who revised his work, commented that Epistle to Marshal Keit shocked the pious public, proving that the soul is mortal.
