Beautiful multivolume set of Paris Illustré, a famous French weekly magazine. Illustrations by popular artists of the time such as Rochegrosse, Job, Myrbach, Flameng, Grasset, Chelmonski, Courboin, and Renouard. The set features issues from the first published in May 1983 up to July 1887.
The number 45/46 May 1886 is dedicated to Utamaro, which has several lithographs of the famous Japanese painter. A managing editor, Charles Gillot, passionate about art from the Far East, helped to spread in France in the late nineteenth century.
Paris Illustré is a French illustrated magazine founded by René Baschet and appeared in 1983, initially as a monthly magazine. It later became a weekly magazine, with each issue being thematic. The issue featured illustrations depicting the topic. These were the first reproductions in color according to mechanical processes, derived from typogravure, developed by Charles Gillot who signs the engravings. The magazine was issued up until July 1920, covering the entire turn of the century.

Binding: Fine contemporary quarter leather binding; gilt-stamped spine cover. Some signs of wear and tear, and bumped edges.
Condition: Engravings are in very good condition, with well-maintained colors. Some title pages with minor stains. Some signs of restoration, and discoloration due to aging.
