A comprehensive Greek-Latin and Latin-Greek lexicon, authored by Benjamin Hedericus. Printed in Rome in 1832. In two parts. The first part is a Greek-Latin dictionary while the second is Latin-Greek.
Benjamin Hedericus attended the Gymnasium St. Augustin in Grimma and then the universities of Wittenberg and Leipzig. After graduating from in 1696, he worked for five years as a private tutor in Wittenberg. In 1702, he became a teacher of Latin and Greek at the “Kloster St. Johannes der Täufer auf dem Berge” near Magdeburg, and in 1705. Despite dedicating six to seven hours a day to teaching, Hedericus engaged in scholarly activities related to classical culture in his free time, compiling Latin-German and Greek-German vocabularies, as well as encyclopedic dictionaries. His well-known dictionary of classical mythology, revised by Johann Joachim Schwabe in 1770, was widely used by Goethe and Kleist.
