Clinical study of human sexual behavior, this book popularized the terms sadism and masochism. This book was one of the first to study homosexuality and bisexuality in academia. It was written in an academic style with the purpose to discourage lay readers. An extremely important piece of work as to the history of homosexuality in the western world.
