A novel written by French writer Claude Tillier first published in 1843. The novel is told by the narrator who talks about the life of the brother of his grandmother, his uncle. The story takes place in the French commune Clamecy, at the end of the reign of Louis XV. For a long time edition of this satirical novel was limited. Nevertheless, it became very popular and soon was available in Germany, Switzerland, and Belgium.
