This is a book, of essays of John William Kay (1814 – 1876), a British military historian. Literary work is dealt with in India and the United Kingdom. He was officer in the Bengal Artillery. In 1856 he entered the civil service of the East India Company, and when the government of India was transferred to the British crown, he succeeded John Stuart Mill as secretary of the political and secret department of the India office. In 1871 he was made a KCSI.Author of “History of the War in Afghanistan”, “Life of Lord Metcalfe”, “History of the Sepoy War”, etc.
