The publication “The 200th Anniversary of the Office of His Imperial Majesty” was compiled by the order of the Minister of the Imperial Court, Adjutant-General V. B. Frederiks, Commander of the Cabinet of His Imperial Majesty.
His Imperial Majesty’s Cabinet was an administrative institution performing various functions and was in charge of the royal family’s properties such as family documentation and treasury. The cabinet also dealt with jobs such as palace construction, acquisitions of works of art and others during 1704 – 1917. Established by Peter I in 1704, it was actually the office of the tsar. The publication contains unique historical studies on the origin and future fate of the Cabinet, based on rare archival documents from 18th and 19th century. Particular attention is paid to the study of the Cabinet of Peter the Great. The book is richly illustrated showing portraits of royal family members and leaders of the cabinet. Extraordinary collector’s copy.
