Original poster from 1920 marking the beginning of building Saint Sava Temple. The temple is dedicated to Sveti Sava (Saint Sava), the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church and an important figure in medieval Serbia.

It is built on the presumed location of St. Sava’s grave. His coffin had been moved from Mileševa Monastery to Belgrade. The coffin was placed on a pyre and burnt in 1595 by Ottoman Grand Vizier Sinan Pasha.

The poster is dedicated to all Serbians and Yugoslavians and was printed on Easter, 1920.

Dimensions: 55 x 41 cm

Condition: Paper dust-toned due to aging. Lines of folding, and numerous minor tears along the edges.
