Engraved copperplate veduta of Budva (Budoua), Montenegro. On the verso is a panoramic view of Ulcinj (Dulcigno), Montenegro. The view shows the city with its buildings, churches, churches, town walls, and surrounding landscape. Several sailing ships adorn the view. Two sailing ships adorn the sheet. French text on the verso and the recto.
Henri de Beauvau was a French diplomat and general, who undertook this voyage beginning in November 1604. He was a career diplomat who had previously served Emperor Rudolf II during the Ottoman-Hungarian campaigns. Most of the maps (‘pourtraicts des lieux’) are after earlier works by Giacomo Franco, Donato Bertelli and GiovanFrancesco Camocio.
