Sardis was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Lydia, one of the important cities of the Persian Empire. This steel engraving originates from a Dutch edition of ‘Meyer’s Universum’, published and printed by the ‘Bibliographical Institute’ seated in Hildburghausen, Germany in 1837. This work consists out of several parts/books describing important views of nature and art in all parts of the world.
