Hydrographer

Sir John Franklin Parry (15 August 1863 – 21 April 1926) was an officer of the Royal Navy and a Hydrographer of the Navy from 1914 to 1919. Parry was the grandson of the Arctic explorer Sir William Edward Parry, also a Hydrographer of the Navy from 1823 to 1829. In the King’s Birthday Honours of 3 June 1916, Parry was appointed an Additional Member of the Third Class in the Civil Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, and later on 16 June 1916 to the rank of Rear-Admiral upon the vacancy caused by the retirement at his own request of Ernest H. Grafton.
