The Steamship Leviathan
By United States Lines. In the English language.
***
The book is about the famous SS Leviathan, an ocean liner that regularly crossed the North Atlantic from 1914 to 1934. The ship was originally built as the Vaterland by Blohm & Voss in Hamburg.
Vaterland had only a few trips. When WWI broke out, Vaterland was in New York City where it stayed immobile for three years. The United States Shipping Board seized the ship in 1917 when the USA entered the war and was renamed Leviathan. At that time Leviathan was the largest ship in the world. The book describes the ship and its premises with many illustrations.
