Hufnagel was a representative of theological rationalism and the Enlightenment. He overcame the hitherto prevailing orthodoxy in the Frankfurt Church and campaigned for the emancipation of the Reformed and the Jews. In 1806 Grand Duke Carl Theodor von Dalberg decreed the religious neutrality of the state and the equal rights of all denominations.
Binding: Original hardcover binding. Gilted spine cover with a sticker, signs of wear on the panels and along the edges, bumped corners.
Condition: Colored textblock edge, heavy foxing, ink inscription by the previous owner on the title page, minor spots, some signs of usage and aging.
